The first thing you want to look at is the number of monthly searches.

If it’s less than 100, then you probably won’t stand much chance of making a lot of money even after ranking high for these keywords but again that differs from niche to niche.

However, if it’s over 100 searches a month, then you’re in luck.

This means that there is plenty of demand for your topic and you can expect lots of traffic once you start posting regularly.

So, decide based on the niche that you have selected for your blog.

Now check the competition score. This tells you how difficult it will be to rank highly for these keywords. The lower the competition, the easier it will be to rank well.

There are plenty of tools available to help you stay informed, such as Google Alerts. In this article, we take a look at how to set up Google alerts using Gmail.

Google Alerts allows you to monitor specific keywords across the web. Once you have created an alert, you can specify the search terms that you wish to monitor.

You can even add multiple search terms to your alert.

To begin setting up a Google alert, visit and search for the topic for what you want to create the alert.

Click on the “Create Alert” button located right below the search box (when you perform the search) on the screen.

Next, enter the email address that you wish to receive alerts to. If you already have an email address, then just leave this field blank.

Otherwise, if you don’t have an email address yet, then select “I don’t have a personal email address” and then click on the “Continue” button.

After entering your email address, click on the “Save Changes” button. Now, you will see a box pop up asking you to confirm that you wish to send emails whenever certain keywords appear on the internet.

Simply check the boxes next to the keywords that you want to monitor and then click on the “OK” button.

After clicking on the OK button, you will now see a small notification at the bottom of your screen stating that you have successfully set up your first Google alert.

To view your newly created alert, click on the drop-down menu next to the word “Alerts” and select “View All Alerts”.

Now that you have set up your first Google alert, you can easily modify it later on. To edit your existing alert, click on the ‘Edit Alert Settings’ link which appears under the dropdown menu next to “Alerts”.

Here you can change the frequency of the alerts, the number of keywords that you wish to monitor, and whether you would like to receive notifications via mobile phone or computer.

You can also choose to stop receiving alerts by unchecking the relevant boxes. After making changes to your alert settings, click on the “Update” button to save your changes.
